Q: What qualities and characteristics define Windrose Academy?

Q: What curriculum does the school follow?
A: In foundation stage we offer EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). In Primary (Year 1 – Year 6) we offer the Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP). In Middle School (Year 7 – Year 9) we offer Cambridge Secondary 1. In Year 10 through Year 12 the school is certified to offer the courses of Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), Oxford AQA and Pearson Edexcel. Course offering is tailored according to student demands. We also cover all the requirements of the Egyptian Ministry of Education in terms of Arabic Language, Social and Religious studies. Windrose Academy graduates will have all the credentials and certificates to attend top Universities in Egypt and around the world.
Q: Who are the teachers at Windrose Academy?
A: The academic team is composed of international staff of first language English speakers. Specialist subject teachers are highly qualified Egyptian professionals.
Q: Is Windrose Academy accredited?
A: The school is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
Q: Does the school have cafeteria facilities for the students?
A: The school is contracted with a catering company that provides a range of healthy food choices.
Q: Is Arabic taught at the school?
A: We follow the Ministry of Education curriculum for Arabic, Islamic Studies and Social Studies, with a different programme for Arabs and non-Arabs, or Muslim/non-Muslim as appropriate.
Q: What is the starting and finishing time of your school day?
A: Students attend school from Sunday to Thursday from 08:00 to 14:00. School administration is available from Sunday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00
Q: Is there a school uniform? Where can parents buy it?
A: The school uniform is purchased from the uniform shop at school.
Q: How do we apply?
A: You can apply online using our electronic application form.
Q: Do you assess new students?
A: Yes, assessments vary according to age and year group.
Q: How does your school differentiate learning?
A: Teachers accommodate different student needs by varying activities in the classroom.
Q: How do you provide feedback to students and parents on student progress and attainment?
A: The teacher provides regular feedback using email and our online platform. Termly parent meetings are also used to inform parents of curriculum milestones and of the student’s achievements by these milestones. If need be, parents are welcome to meet us. Department heads are available to discuss any school matter by appointment.
Q: Which other languages are taught?
A: We offer French and German as an additional language for students to learn starting Year 1.
Q: How does the school involve parents in their child’s academic journey?
A: Parents are an active member in the child’s learning journey. Assemblies, parent workshops, and parent-teacher conferences are regularly planned by the school to involve parents in school life and give them the opportunity to contribute.
Q: Do you offer specific activities, events or information sessions for those parents new to the school and/or area?
A: We organize an induction day at the start of each academic year, plus monthly parent workshops /student assemblies. Workshops may be about positive discipline, academic or curriculum-related, helping to raise achievement, helping to teach children to read, assessment policy etc.
Q: When can prospective parents visit Windrose Academy?
A: We offer 3 daily school tours from Sunday to Wednesday at 09:00, 11:00 and 13:00.
