We have ended a very successful Environmental Awareness Week with students becoming more aware of how they impact the environment and small steps we can do to help. We held a successful plant sale sponsored by the student council in Key Stage 2. We would like to thank all the students and parents for supporting the student-led initiative.

Students of any year group can check out books from the library during their break or lunchtime. They will need permission from their teacher to go to the library outside of their library time. There are some wonderful new additions to the library collection in all reading levels.

Please be sure your child is wearing a mask upon entering school and has extras available in case of lost, misplaced, or dropped mask. This helps us to maintain our level of safety for all. We appreciate the home-school partnership in supporting our protocols.

Second week of school

Oct 01,2020

This week we have begun to get deep into our first academic units. Our settling in time is over and we are heavily focused on our learning. Break times are extremely important – the need for sun, fresh air, food, and water.

Please send your child with enough food and water for the day as there is no access to the water dispensers and limited canteen access. The classroom temperatures are set at 24° and windows and/or doors are open for ventilation. If your child gets cold at times, please send a light pullover with them to keep in their cubby.

Thank you for your support as we being the month of October!

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year

Sep 23,2020

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. We are excited to have all of your students on campus and back into their learning routines. Thank you parents for working with your children to help them transition to the new norm for the time being – mask wearing, lots of hand washing, social distancing and small class sizes. The students are showing resiliency and are working hard to learn these new routines.

Some reminders to help the school year begin smoothly:

Read all emails from school and respond as needed.

Respond to all requests regarding updated health information for your child.

Inform school if your child has been exposed to COVID-19 outside of school.

Be on time for drop off and pick up to ensure a smooth arrival and departure for your child.

Make sure your child has at least two clean masks at school daily.

Make sure all personal items are labeled.

Take your child’s temperature in the morning. Report any illness to the school doctors.

Support all measures in place at school for everyone’s safety.

We look forward to a wonderful school year full of learning and fun! Please pass by anytime – we welcome any comments or suggestions.

Hello parents to the last week of learning! It feels so odd to be writing the word June and there are no kids in school to celebrate these last days. Many year groups will be planning for small events this week so please pay close attention to any emails from your child’s teachers. Next week we will be collecting all books that are checked out from the school and at that time you can pick up any remaining personal items belonging to your child.
We wish you a wonderful, calm and healthy summer! Thanks for all your support of school and in these challenging times staying engaged and supportive.

Best wishes for a wonderful summer.

Perseverance! This is where we are now in the final weeks of distance learning. It takes perseverance for parents, students, and teachers to make this final push towards the end of the academic school year. Please pay close attention to emails from coordinators regarding student participation and upcoming information for the end of the term.

Library books can be returned any time as well as we will be collecting materials that need to be returned to the school. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I know it’s an easy time to turn off and we are all being pulled in many directions, so please communicate if you are feeling overwhelmed or need assistance in any area. Thanks for your support and we wish you a wonderful week.

We are now entering May and spring is all around us. The sights and sounds of spring lead us to know there is still happiness and rejuvenation around us. This may be one of the most challenging times in our personal histories and our families are showing perseverance and courage in these times.  Trying to keep students engaged can be challenging at times. Please feel free to reach out to anyone here at Windrose Academy if you need assistance, advice or even just a friendly voice. We are here to support our famillies and we will all emerge a strong community after these trying times.
